Since the firm was founded over three decades ago, our mission has remained the same: our community deserves a firm capable of handling and trying large and difficult cases, without referring them to firms far from home.

History

Diamond Baker Avansino, LLP was founded by Craig Diamond and Stephen Baker in 1995 as Diamond Baker, LLP, and was known most recently as Diamond Baker Mitchell Cole, LLP. Together, they created a firm that has crystallized into a fixture in Nevada County and Northern California because of its longevity, approachability, and consistent and proven success.

Since 1995, we have represented individuals, families, children, contractors, professionals, and businesses throughout California, Washington, and New York, and we have obtained verdicts and settlements for our clients totaling many tens of millions of dollars.

Craig and Stephen have created an enduring institution, one they continue to nurture and to which our neighbors turn for help.

Community

Our attorneys and team are from the area we serve. Our people have either lived in Nevada County for decades or grew up here and returned. Craig and Stephen have practiced in Nevada County for more than four decades, including a decade prior to starting the firm.

Most of our clients are from here or the surrounding counties. Though we serve clients throughout California, Washington, and New York, our firm measures our success, first, by what we have accomplished for our neighbors in Nevada County and throughout Northern California.

Our firm has a tradition of involvement in and support of local institutions, foundations, and events that sustain the Grass Valley, Nevada City, and Penn Valley area. Outside the office, our people have served the community in a multitude of ways: volunteer firefighting and fire investigation, local bar association leadership, non-profit association leadership, and more. Our commitment to the area anchors our practice and informs how we analyze and solve problems for our clients.

Successes and Experience

Our attorneys are not only local, but our firm boasts a depth of knowledge and expertise garnered from large law firm experience. Our firm has the highest rating (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell, given by peers for legal ability and ethical standing. Craig is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, admission to which is only by invitation and to lawyers with substantial experience and success trying cases to verdict. Neither distinction can be applied for or bought.

Though we value our outside recognition, our pride is in the record that earned it. For over four decades in practice, our founders, Craig and Steve, have tried cases and resolved matters returning verdicts and settlements in the many tens of millions of dollars for the individuals and businesses they have represented, which includes several tens of millions in verdicts and settlements within Nevada County alone.

These results happen because our firm has deep experience, and we are willing and prepared, when necessary, to take cases to trial. That is why we view everything we do through the prism of trial.
